One of the most popular and must do activities in Washington is whale watching, you can take a tour of the local sea waters and observe grey and orca whales. If you prefer dry land then don't worry there are some excellent wildlife parks around the state including the Cat Tales Zoological Park in Spokane; home to lions and tigers and the Northwest Trek located in Eastonville, where you can take a tram tour of the park and get close up to many local species.
One great way to enjoy the local landscapes is by kayak. You can either go sea kayaking where you will meet some resident seals and maybe even an orca. Or you could take to the rivers for some white water adventures while you pass by Washington's giant volcanoes.
Golfers will have no problem finding a lush quality course to hit a few balls and lovers of scenic drives will enjoy coastal routes that are dotted with lovely lighthouses that still guide passing ships safely.
Washington state's most famous city is Seattle. It is famous for many reasons; grunge music, coffee and Frasier are just a few. It has a lively social and cultural life with excellent restaurants, music events and shopping. Seattle is a good place to base yourself if you want to get a rounded view of the state.
